I love movement! From a very young age, I gravitated toward anything that allowed me to move my body. Sports were my outlet and I wanted to try everything that I was exposed to. I was also a very coachable participant; seeking to understand how to connect what I was hearing to the movement of my body. As an adult, I continue to be fascinated with movement of all kinds and find myself analyzing how the body is working on all levels. I came to yoga because the movement of it was so familiar to me having been a competitive gymnast all through college. I then quickly discovered that yoga was an efficient way to stay balanced while working full-time and attending graduate school at the University of MN. However, Yoga took on a whole new meaning for me when I used it to support myself through the pregnancy and birth of my first child in 2006. It was during this time that I leaned heavily into yoga and realized Yoga’s transformational qualities. My most transformative experience happened during the birth of my second child at home when I developed a true connection with faith. After that, I desired to know everything about the discipline of yoga.

Today, my passion for yoga has evolved into a strong interest in yoga anatomy, holistic nutrition/Ayurveda and devotion in practice. I believe in the healing nature of yoga and that most injuries to the body and the heart can be prevented and/or remedied using the tools of yoga. I also feel yoga helps build a skillful awareness of our innate need to align with the rhythms of nature and listen to our inner teacher above all else.

I am a 500hr Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through Tanya Boigenzahn’s Devanadi School of Yoga and Wellness in Mpls and a Certified Ayurveda Yoga Specialist through the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, PA. I am also a Restorative Level II instructor trained by Chanti Tacoronte-Perez. My training is deeply rooted in the Himalayan tradition, Tantra and Hatha Yoga. In 2009, I completed prenatal yoga training through Blooma in Minneapolis where I worked as a childbirth educator teaching VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) workshops for 5 years. I actively teach yoga and Ayurveda in my local community and am honored to be on staff as a teacher trainer at my Yoga home, Devanadi.

I live in Edina, MN with my husband, two daughters and two canine friends.  Off the mat, I love to travel, seek adventure in everyday life and spend time outdoors with my family. I have a lifelong love of learning and will always be a student above of all else in the discipline of yoga and in life.

form and feather mission

About Form and Feather

The Mission

Form and Feather was born out of my own living breathing exploration of the dichotomy of the human struggle between attachment to the physical body and a deep longing for connection to meaning in life.

Form represents that which we can see and feel, gross matter, physical existence and the human body.

Feather represents the subtle energies that influence us, the spirit that we all have access to and the powerful pulsation of the soul.  In many cultures & spiritual traditions the feather is seen as a symbolic connection to Spirit and the Divine energy of the creator.

Likewise, in my Yoga journey Form represents my initial draw to yoga as physical movement, postures and alignment while Feather illustrates the unfolding of a deeper meaning to yoga and a discipline of freedom from physical attachments.

Finding a balance between these two forces allows us to live as our best self.  Through Yoga, Meditation, Breath, Writing and other holistic modalities, I have developed Form and Feather Coaching to share tools for self-mastery so that you can dictate your unique path to a vibrant life. A life that is meaningful for you and one that is filled with joy, gratitude and skillful awareness of your strengths and limitations. My writings are based on contemplations from my heart, observations of my life and questions that continue to keep me seeking. Finally, Form and Feather can be applied to all areas of life including personal ambitions, profession, relationships, leisure and adventure as well as being a steward of service to others.
